4 easy ways to jumpstart your day.

Today, I woke up early , I got things done, and I came to work with a positive attitude. Yay me! This wasn’t always my life. It took me umm let’s see, 29 years to get to this point. IT IS POSSIBLE TO BE A MORNING PERSON, DON’T GIVE UP!

My mornings used to be like, “Nobody talk to me until after 12pm please!”. I would walk into the office and everybody already knew not to say a word to me because I had that, ” Leave me alone until further notice”, face. That’s so not a way to live. We weren’t meant to wake up and be mad at the world. Have you ever had someone walk pass you, smile, and say “Good Morning”, and the first thing that  comes to mind is, “Why in the world is that person so damn happy at 8 AM!!!”. I could not stand that. It used to bother me so much. When you aren’t right within , all that happy and positive stuff just bothers you for no reason. It’s an inside thing that you definitely have to work on. Happy and joyful people are the best. You may not realize it right away, but, when you get to a good place within, you start to realize how important it is to have those people who are full of peace and joy in your life.

When I look back at my life when I was depressed, I notice a huge difference. When I was depressed I barely showered, I barely did anything. I did not take care of myself at all. I didn’t have energy for all of that, I was lucky to even get out of bed some days, and even that took A LOT of energy. Depression is real, please do not ignore it. It is absolutely okay to feel how you feel, do not be ashamed and seek help, please. YOU MATTER.

Okay, so now that I am in good spirits. and my God has transformed my whole life, I am going to give you some pointers on how to take care of yourself and jumpstart your mornings.

1.WAKE UP EARLY

I know some of you are already like, nope, count me out. Listen, this is important. Giving yourself more time in the am to do things means that you are not in a rush. We live very fast paced lives now a days and we just wake up in the am and go. We don’t give ourselves time to actually wake up and be alert. Give yourself time to wake up, stretch, and start your day. Don’t eat your breakfast in 2 seconds, ENJOY IT.

2.MAKE YOUR BED

This one was a game changer for me. I never ever made my bed. When I went through my depression, I would wake up, get dressed, and go. I would come back home to a messy room, take off my clothes, and jump in bed. This was my life for a while. Until, one day I was on Google and I came across an article that mentioned this and I decided to give it a try. I told myself, ” If I don’t do anything else, the one thing I have to do every single day is make my bed.” I started off very small. So, that was my one accomplishment of the day, making my bed. At first I didn’t notice any change in my thoughts/attitude , but, after a while I started feeling good about myself.  Something as small as just making my bed made a huge difference for me. IT REALLY WORKS!

3.SHOWER

I know you guys are probably thinking, “shower? duh , we do that every day”. I am a realist and I am here to tell you that I didn’t always shower every day. Do you know how much energy it takes to shower, wash your hair, AND shave your legs when you are depressed? A LOT. I barely had energy to get out of bed, you really think I had energy to shower every single day too? Not at all. BUT, once I started making my bed daily, I told myself, “okay, now your second task is to shower every single day, even when you don’t feel like it”. See, we don’t do a lot of things because we don’t “feel” like it, that only leads to destruction. I have learned to stop going by how I “feel” and just DO. We would see major changes in our lives if we just disciplined ourselves. Stop going by how you feel and learn discipline. Discipline is something you build, feelings vary, they come and go. You are not always going to “feel” like going to work, working out, loving your spouse when they get on your nerves, but, you have to do it.

Jeremiah 17:9 – The human heart is the most deceitful of all things.

4.Pray/Meditate

This one is major. Spending time with God, whether it is praying or meditating on some verses, spend time with him. I love to start off my days with God because I know regardless of how I “feel”, God’s will, will be done. It’s so freeing to know that God is always in control. It really is the only thing that brings true peace in my heart. Trusting God whole-heartedly, because, I already know what happens when I try to control my own life. It doesn’t matter how amazing, or, how successful you are, you cannot do this on your own. True peace and joy comes from within, and that comes from Christ alone.

So, there you have it. 4 small things that you can do daily to jumpstart your day and bring forth some changes. I hope this helps you.

Don’t ever give up on yourself, you matter, you are important, AND, you are worth so much more than what this world tells you.

Romans- 12:12 – Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Ephesians 3:19 – May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you. Plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope.
